Why does the UK have such distaste for international law and human rights?

The UK and the US are united by imperial exceptionalism, insisting that human rights and
international law apply to others, but defying the law themselves.
Recently, the UK denounced the UN for its critical reports on housing and extreme poverty;
condemned the European Convention on Human Rights as a Terrorists’ Charter; ignored
social and economic rights; and defied the UN and its Court over the Chagos Islanders and
Diego Garcia. This has deep historical roots.
